Irrigation FAQs

Standing water in the yard after rain, and areas of lawn that stay soggy for days, are the most common signs of a yard drainage problem. Other warning signs include gutters overflowing during storms and plants dying from waterlogged soil. Around the house, look for water on the basement floor, rotting wood near the foundation, damp carpet along baseboards, warped or stained drywall, damp insulation and mold. If you notice any of these, a drainage contractor can find the source before it causes structural damage.

No, not every drainage repair requires digging. Clogged drain pipes and buried grates are common, and a pressure jetter can often clear them without excavation. Hydroscapes also uses a drainage camera to inspect pipes underground and pinpoint blockages or damage, so we only dig where it’s truly needed.

No. Hydroscapes handles both exterior and interior drainage solutions, including sump pumps, water-powered backup sump pumps and interior French drains. Our first goal is always to control water outside, before it reaches your foundation. When water is already getting in, we can protect your basement from the inside as well.

Yard drainage systems need very little maintenance when they’re designed correctly. Usually it’s enough to keep drain grates clear of leaves and debris, and to make sure grass doesn’t grow over the open end of a discharge pipe. If water starts pooling again, we can inspect the system with a drain camera and clean it out with a jetter.

Hydroscapes keeps lawn disruption to a minimum and restores every area we disturb. For established lawns, we cut the sod in sections and replace it after installing the drainage pipe, or bring in new sod. Everything else is raked, tamped, seeded and covered with straw so your yard recovers quickly.

No. Hydroscapes takes on drainage projects of every size across Southeastern PA. We’ve solved everything from quarter-mile driveways that flood regularly to rainwater pooling in a small vegetable garden, for homes and commercial properties alike. If water is collecting where it shouldn’t, we can design a solution.

You can, but DIY drainage fixes often fail because they treat the symptom instead of the source. A professional drainage contractor accounts for grade, soil type, run-off volume and where the water can be safely released. Hydroscapes brings the right equipment, years of troubleshooting experience and a parts and labor warranty, which often saves homeowners money and repeat repairs in the long run.
