Every project starts with a free consultation. We can even set up a temporary demo so you can see the effect before you commit. After installation, we’ll meet you for an evening walkthrough to make sure everything looks just right.
The holiday line promises a done-for-you service but stays general on purpose. If Hydroscapes also handles takedown and storage after the season, add “and we take it all down and store it when the season ends.” That’s usually the biggest selling point for holiday lighting.

Why install landscape lighting in the first place?
Landscape lighting lets you use your outdoor spaces after dark while making your property safer, more secure and more attractive. Well-lit walkways and steps prevent trips and falls. Motion-sensor lighting and lighting on potential hiding spots help deter intruders. Lighting your home’s architecture, trees and plantings adds curb appeal at night. Quality outdoor lighting can also add to your home’s value.
Does someone need to be present for the initial consultation?
We recommend that everyone involved in the decision attend the free landscape lighting consultation. If lighting is going in alongside new plantings or hardscaping, invite your landscaper too. Walking the property together lets us agree on lighting goals, design options, fixture placement, timeline and budget in one visit. We can also install a temporary demo system so you can see the effect at night.
How long does an installation take?
Most residential outdoor lighting installations take 1 to 3 days, depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the design. Hydroscapes gives you an upfront timeline, keeps you updated during the installation, and schedules an evening walkthrough once the work is complete.
Does someone need to be home during the installation?
Someone only needs to be home if the project requires interior wiring, because nearly all landscape lighting work happens outside. After installation, we come back one evening to review the lighting with you, make any final adjustments and show you how to operate the system.
How expensive is a lighting system to install and to operate?
The cost of landscape lighting depends on the number of fixtures, the design and the type of bulbs, since every Hydroscapes system is custom-designed. We can work within your budget and offer different fixture and bulb options. Energy-efficient LED lighting costs far less to run than traditional bulbs and lasts much longer, which keeps operating costs low.
Does a lighting system require yearly maintenance?
Yes, we recommend annual maintenance to keep your outdoor lighting system working and looking its best. Service includes inspecting fixtures and wiring, replacing failed bulbs, cleaning lenses, adjusting fixtures as plants grow, and checking timers and transformers. Hydroscapes can build an annual lighting maintenance plan around your budget and needs.
Do you install line-voltage systems?
No. Hydroscapes installs only low-voltage landscape lighting, using LED and halogen systems. Low-voltage lighting is safer, more energy-efficient and more environmentally friendly, and it’s a higher-quality system we can stand behind. If you already have a line-voltage system, we can still repair it or evaluate it for a low-voltage retrofit.
